Strategies and Plans

Delivering our vision

We are proud of what we achieved in the past year – eliminating long waits for routine operations, speeding up the diagnosis and treatment of cancer, reducing our reliance on temporary staffing, and balancing the books.

With you for every moment

From diagnosis to recovery, we will provide seamless, innovative, and equitable hospital care

We’re moving towards a future that focuses on combining specialties and clinical expertise, prevents ill health, embraces digital innovation, and expands our care closer to home. Aligned with national NHS goals, this transformation puts patients first and is shaped by the experiences, insights and voices of the people we treat.

Our group priorities for 2026-2031

Striving for excellence on behalf of our patients

We are proud of what we achieved in the past year – eliminating long waits for routine operations, speeding up the diagnosis and treatment of cancer, reducing our reliance on temporary staffing, and balancing the books.

This plan shows how we will do this in the context of the long-term NHS shifts from treatment to prevention, from hospital to community, and from analogue to digital. We are also guided by our own clinical strategy to provide consistent care across our hospitals, through centres of excellence, integrated with partners in our communities. This means delivering plans across the group and integrating with partners at a neighbourhood level.

WeBelong

We are proud that our staff work – and many live – in one of the most culturally diverse and vibrant parts of the country.

We are also conscious that east London contains some of the most deprived areas, with the biggest health challenges. It is therefore our top priority to create an inclusive organisation providing equitable services where WeBelong.

Transforming our hospitals so that we are fit for the future

We have ambitious plans for the long-term benefit of our patients

We are redeveloping Whipps Cross Hospital and creating a life sciences centre in Whitechapel.

During the next decade we are also developing a network of specialist centres of surgical excellence so that patients get the best possible treatment.
